In a recession, everyone wants to find the best deals for everything.

Most people look at buying new things for a lower price, but this doesn't really save you money. It costs you.

I'm looking right now at the things we have to buy every day and working out how to reduce the cost of them. Instead of spending more at a lower rate, I'm looking at paying less for the things we have to buy anyway. Does that make sense?

So, where do we start? What do we have to buy every day?

Bills I suppose. We can look at Taxes and Council Taxes etc later as this is a far more complicated area. The simplest start points are our other bills.

What do we have to use every day and how can we save the most money?

Gas and Electric are a great starter.
Broadband - not compulsory but who doesn't have broadband these days.
Home Phone.

Then there's the
Mobile. It's hard to find anyone without a mobile these days and asking anyone to give it up just isn't an option.

Next I look at
Groceries. we can't really live without food.
Beauty, Fuel, DIY, Clothes, Electricals, Gifts, etc. Some say these are luxuries others say necessities. Whatever your viewpoint, we spend on these and I am pretty sure saving money on these is essential.

Finally,
> Travel. Yeah for me, if I can't travel, I go insane. The costs are sneaking up and with all the extra charges being slipped in, its getting silly. So I need to get rid of these.

I've done the work, got the results and now I want to share what I've found. Ready???

There are lots of ways to look at all of these individually and compare the websites, have sales people call round, all promising you the best deal, fill out forms and commit to contracts only to find out that the customer service level has gone down, your affairs are over complicated, you never know when money is being direct debited and for what?

I found an easy way, which simplifies everything and (wait for it) puts it all on one bill. OMG, one direct debit on a fixed day of the month. Seriously!

I found a discount club who's sole purpose is to save you money. You pay a monthly subscription of £1.50 (yeah tiny I know) which is more than paid for by what you save. They work on the principal that if someone has to tie you into a contract then they are not good enough to keep you happy enough to stay with them. For that reason, they do not have contract terms that you are tied to. I know this is brilliant. If I don't like them then I can just leave. No risk. Fantastic.

In return for your £1.50 they guarantee you the cheapest:

> Home Phone and Broadband, with free international calls to the UK and 10 international destinations. They don't add lots of hidden extras like line rental and connection fees etc, and they don't put the price up after 3 months. Everything is included and the price is fixed.
> Standard Gas and Electricity tariffs in the UK
> Mobile Phone tariffs in the UK.
     - £10 for unlimited texts and 500 minutes.
     - £15 for
unlimited texts and 800 minutes.
     - £20 for
unlimited texts and unlimited minutes.
> A Prepaid debit card which gives you between 3 and 10% of your spend cash back to set against your bills. This is immense, it means that Asda, Sainsburys, B&Q, House of Fraser, Boots, Argos, New Look, and loads more high street shops pay your bill for you. Another added benefit is that paying for Ryanair flights with this card wipes out the £6 per person/per direction admin fee. A fee that really upsets everyone who flies with Ryanair.

> The most amazing website on the internet. FindMeTheCheapest. This is only available to club members through your clubhouse but it genuinely searches the whole of the web and finds you the cheapest. I just saved £90 on the new Dyson hoover.
> If you love the club and want to your family and friends money too, you can recommend/invite people to join and this is the most amazing bit. For everyone who does join, you get 0.5% discount per service they take, off your total bill, EVERY MONTH. It is actually possible if you introduce enough people to get paid every month for switching on your lights, TV, heating etc. For making telephone calls.

Here is the best bit. if they do not save you money every month on your monthly bills, they will pay you back
